Overview

The story of the kidnapping of young Farouk Kassam, which took place on the Costa Smeralda on January 15, 1992. A foreign family, long-established on the island—a father, a mother, and two children—lived what might have seemed like a paradise on earth, until one day, violence erupted, changing their lives forever. Seven-year-old Farouk was abducted from his home by a group of criminals, right before the horrified and helpless eyes of his parents and little sister. Thus began a nightmare that would last 177 days, holding all of Italy in suspense—a historic event that would even go so far as to put the State itself under immense strain. Faced with a harrowing ordeal like the kidnapping of a child, the individuals involved discovered within themselves resources, limitations, emotions, and instincts they never knew they possessed—while their closest bonds and firmest certainties were put to the ultimate test.
