Legowo

Overview

Legowo explores the inner lives and unspoken struggles of becak (traditional Indonesian pedicab) drivers from an intimate perspective. The story follows Mr. Mariman, a driver living far from home who works tirelessly to provide for his family, alongside Mr. Joko Tentrem, who strives to highlight the true value of their profession to tourists. Far more than just transport providers, these drivers serve as local storytellers—guiding travelers through historical destinations and connecting them with local culture. However, the massive shift toward modern online ride-hailing services threatens to erase the identity and livelihood of this traditional transport. This documentary aims to inspire audiences to acknowledge, preserve, and continue supporting the invaluable services of these cultural guardians.
