The Story of Day and Night

Overview

The woman and the man share similar yet different concerns. The woman talks about her life as a young woman in South Korea, while the man speaks of his life as a young North Korean defector. They exchange stories across the table, but in truth, it feels as though they are speaking to a reflection of themselves or even offering a quiet monologue to the audience watching the film. The film does not provide solutions to their issues. Likewise, neither the woman nor the man suggests opinions to each other. I created this film with the hope that the audience would experience the same. Rather than presenting opinions or solutions, perhaps what these two really need is simply someone to listen. Just as night turns into day, maybe, in that way, morning will come.
