Overview
‘I could bite you… (this is how I devour you)’ plays with the concept of cannibalism as empowerment and consumption as sexual objectification in a macabre way and the discomfort implicit in this process, linking objects of common use with the spectator’s own body and forcibly involving them as an active participant in the performance, an expression of the very violence manifested by the act of objectification, which is not consensual. As in the works of Condit and EXPORT, discomfort is deliberately used as a tool to express female fears, anxieties or pain, confronting the role of women as ‘piece of meat’ or object of consumption by the inversion of the acting parts.
