Overview
What did you do on New Year's Eve 1993? Did you recover from the New Year's Eve party? Did you watch the division of Czechoslovakia? Did you celebrate the establishment of the Slovak Republic? Slovakia is a young state that is still in the process of finding its own identity. After the division of the republic, nationalism, abuse of power and corruption came to the fore in the wild 1990s. As a young democracy, we are still trying to deal with this legacy 30 years after the establishment of an independent republic. On the other hand, space is slowly but surely being created for our own modern identity, culture and perhaps even a rule of law that is part of the modern European community.
