Overview

The film chronologically traces the unexpected journey of François Sterchele, who rose from complete anonymity in the Belgian lower leagues to national stardom. It begins roughly twenty years after his introduction to professional football as an unknown striker from the third division brought into Sporting Charleroi. Following an impressive season there, Sterchele made a breakthrough year at Germinal Beerschot, finishing as the top scorer in the Belgian First Division and earning his debut with the Belgian national team, the Red Devils.
