Overview

Durga, a rural Sri Lankan youth, trains intensely in traditional dance while his widowed mother travels to the city daily to sell fruit. A chance encounter introduces them to Tekla, an educated urbanite, drawing their families together. This connection leads Durga to form a deep, quiet bond with Tekla’s son, Johannes, which soon blossoms into a romantic relationship. As Durga navigates the gap between his rural heritage and a changing world, his personal and cultural identities collide. On the day of his highly anticipated debut dance performance, his relationship with Johannes finds affirmation. The film is a tender exploration of first love, self-discovery, and belonging, showing a young man balancing tradition with his authentic future.
