In 1987, Yamaguchi, an ordinary high school student in a provincial city, meets Ube. Their common ground is anime. For a young man who loves anime and lives in the countryside, having a friend with whom he can share conversations about it becomes something irreplaceable. They meet up late at night to line up for the premiere of Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise and organize a Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind viewing party after school.
