"9 Kisses" is a 2014 New York Times Magazine project featuring nine artistic short films where top actors of the year pair up for intimate, staged smooches. Directed by Elaine Constantine, these roughly minute-long clips range from romantic to awkward, showcasing diverse famous pairings in public night settings.

Matt, a young glaciologist, soars across the vast, silent, icebound immensities of the South Pole as he recalls his love affair with Lisa. Together, over a period of several months, they pursue a mutual sexual passion whose inevitable stages unfold in counterpoint to nine live-concert songs.

The myths of Orpheus and Charon are interwoven with the entirely sung story of four friends dining in an Italian bistro who are fated to perish the next morning in the attack on the Twin Towers. At meal’s end, through magical realism, the restaurant’s mysterious strolling violinist is revealed to be Charon, hand extended, awaiting payment. Complying, each reconciles with death, and departs to the sounds of the next morning’s busy signals and the calls of first responders.

The album was released by Sony Music on March 29, 2019, in physical and digital format. It includes a DVD with the presentation of the seven artists. The album was recorded from the concert of November 29, 2018, in the Arena Mexico City. This one does not have the participation of special guests, but Cynthia Nilson of the group The Sacados has a more formal participation and not only as a guest artist.
