Mature grade school student Arisu Tachibana is an aspiring idol who receives an invitation from her company president to participate in the Third Entertainment Section—a new idol project. Arisu and eight other young girls soon meet their producer before beginning idol-related activities. To the girls' surprise, their producer appears to be a childlike adult and nothing like what they had imagined. The producer, who is taking on the position for the first time, also had no idea that he would be meeting a group of short, young idols. The awkward situation leaves Arisu disappointed, and she wishes for a producer change. However, the producer, with his genuine love for idols and his desire to see them shine, will not let this opportunity pass and expresses that he is serious about working with the girls. Growth finds themselves working together with a rival group, ZIX, prior to their debut—something that leader Kouki Etou is reluctant to do. On a cold night, idol group TRIGGER reunite at a bar to celebrate the anniversary of the day they started working together. While every student in the department strives to obtain one of the five training roles, Team Yuzuriha's Riku Ageha is practically a front-runner for the role of Alexis' Shadow. Having idolized an Ayanagi alumnus' performance of Alexis, Ageha has spent a majority of his life perfecting the portrayal in hopes of being selected for the show. In contrast, Hoshitani's lack of experience in show business puts him at a great disadvantage for any of the roles in the production. Shortly afterward, she is scouted by a young woman named Kaoru Sakakibara, who turns out to be the director of Alice in Theater—the troupe that Izumi used to be a part of. Aiming to pursue her dreams, Seria decides to follow Kaoru and joins Alice in Theater. To better their chances, they decide to invite the DJ units that supported them during their first performance: Happy Around, Photo Maiden, Peaky P-key, Rondo, and Merm4id. Intrigued by the opportune event, the other units gladly accept Lyrical Lily's request. However, the project is extremely demanding. To attract visitors and new residents to the town, the energetic girls of the participating DJ units must give their best to create a memorable experience for their audiences. In the future, androids known as Parents have gained popularity for their ability to perform a wide variety of tasks, including shopping and household chores. When Keiichirou Kuro finds an older model of a Parent in a junk pile, he feels compelled to take it home. With no memories of her previous owner and no ability to handle more than the most basic tasks, it is easy to imagine how the android—which he calls "Flower"—ended up being discarded. Despite this, he keeps Flower, and the two gradually form a bond over the span of a summer.
